High Adventure Scholarship
Order of the Arrow High Adventure

Order of the Arrow High Adventure is a National program that allows Arrowmen to and experience and serve the three High Adventure bases. There are currently four High Adventure programs consisting of Trail Crew at Philmont Scout Ranch, Wilderness Voyage and Canadian Odyssey at Northern Tier, and Ocean Adventure at Sea Base. These are all two week programs where Arrowmen serve for the first week and the plan their own trek for the second week. There are sessions of the programs starting all throughout the summer and more information can be found on the OA High Adventure website.
OA Trail Crew is the original OA High Adventure program at Philmont. The first week is trail building in the backcountry where Arrowmen clear terrain, construct switchbacks, perform erosion control, and create trails. For the second week the Trail Crew designs their own itinerary instead of selecting a pre-planned route. Arrowmen can do and see just about anything on the Ranch, from the Tooth of Time to Baldy Mountain! The program is not simply building trail and hiking though, the OA Trail Crew is ultimately a journey that challenges Scouts mentally, physically, and spiritually. The participant cost for OA Trail Crew is $250 and you must provide your own transportation to the program.
OA Wilderness Voyage is one of the OA High Adventure programs at Northern Tier National High Adventure Base in Ely, Minnesota. Arrowmen will travel into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota for this program. The first week focuses on portage trail and campsite maintenance within the Boundary Waters. The remaining expedition is spent on a cnoeing adventure that is planned and chosen by the participants. From the 8-1/2 mile "Grand Portage" leading to Lake Superior, to the Height of Land, even the pictographs on Fishdance Lake, crews have done and seen all in the Boundary Waters. The participant cost of OA Wilderness Voyage is $200 and you must provide your own transportation to the program.
OA Canadian Odyssey is the second OA High Adventure program at Northern Tier. Arrowmen will cross the border into the Quetico Provincial Park of Ontario, Canada for their Odyssey. Like it's U.S. counterpart the first week of the program is spent giving back to the Quetico through portage trail restoration work. The second part of the program is a 90 mile odyssey from Atikokan, Ontario back to the base in Ely, Minnesota. For this program you will need to have a US Passport to be able to cross the border into Canada. The participant cost of OA Canadian Odyssey is $200 and you must provide your own transportation to the program.
OA Ocean Adventure is the OA High Adventure program at the Florida Sea Base. This ten day program will provide an array of service opportunities that include work helping to develop the Florida Keys Heritage Trail, removing invasive species in and around the Sea Bases's Big Munson Island, and supporting both the Crane Point Nature Center and Marathon Wild Bird Center in preserving the Keys' flora, fauna and wildlife. Arrowmen will be camping at both Big Munson Island and Crane Point during the service portion of the program, after which they will move aboard a 40-50' sailing yacht for four days at sea to sail, snorkel on pristine coral reefs, troll for sportfish, and swim in the warm waters of the Keys. The participant cost of OA Ocean Adventure is $500 and you must provide your own transportation to the program
