About Us

The Scouts and Scouters of the Ahoalan-Nachpikin Lodge are part of a significant, century-old program known as the Order of the Arrow, the "National Honor Society" of Scouts, B.S.A. The name "Ahoalan-Nachpikin" (pronounced "ah-ho-all-lun notch-pick-in") translates to "We Who Love the Outdoors." We are represented by our totem, the bear.

We are chartered by and serve the Chickasaw Council, which encompasses Shelby County in West Tennessee, East Arkansas, and North Mississippi. We provide community service through many channels. We help with council and district events, particularly with program facilitation and support. We also serve our council camps, Camp Currier and Kia Kima Scout Reservation.

Purpose of the Order of the Arrow

As Scouting's National Honor Society, our purpose is to:
  • Recognize those who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and through that recognition cause others to conduct themselves in way that warrants similar recognition.
  • Promote camping, responsible outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship as essential components of every Scout's experience, in the unit, year-round, and in summer camp.
  • Develop leaders with the willingness, character, spirit and ability to advance the activities of their units, our Brotherhood, Scouting, and ultimately our nation.
  • Crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.

Mission of the Lodge

The mission of the Ahoalan-Nachpikin Lodge is to achieve the purpose of the Order of the Arrow as an integral part of Scouts, B.S.A in the Chickasaw Council through positive youth leadership under the guidance of selected capable adults.
